Back to Baja California
After our stay at Isla Isabela, we continued on our trek north. Our goal was to get across the Sea of Cortez, and start exploring the cruising grounds that everyone was talking about.
-
Isla Isabel, the place of birds
We arrived at Isla Isabel and tucked into a small anchorage on the east side. The island is well known as a bird sanctuary, and we were eager to go and explore.
-
Matanchen – up and close with wildlife
We arrived at Matanchen after a pleasant day of sailing. Here we explore the jungle by the river and see their mighty inhabitants. We also sample local food.

Bye, bye, Banderas Bay
It is hard to believe that it has been about 2.5 months since we arrived in Banderas Bay. It went fast. It is the end of the season here and the time of departures...
-
The crossroads of Banderas Bay
We have spent about 2.5 months in Banderas Bay. This was our pay-back time – we had finally reached a place where we did not have to think about leaving soon, did not have to worry too much about the weather, and could just enjoy being there.

Escaping Cabo
After almost 800 miles of rugged coast, it was exciting to reach the end of the Baja peninsula and overwhelming to be back in the fully civilized world. But after two days, the good feelings and energy boost we got from traveling down that far started evaporating. Cabo was quite annoying, and we could not wait to get out of there. We just needed the right weather.

Sailing down the Baja coast
After spending a month in Ensenada, we have finally departed for the next segment of our journey. Ahead of us stretched a rugged coast of Baja. It is just the two of us this time. We knew this part would be different from anything we have experienced so far.

¡Viva México!
We have finally crossed the border and are in Mexico. This is our long-dreamed destination. Our introduction to the country, its culture, and customs start with Ensenada. We spend several weeks taking care of the paperwork and doing some boat projects before continuing further.

SoCal is so nice!
Our stay in Monterey ran longer than planned but in late October we finally made a hop to Santa Barbara and started a month-long exploration of Southern California.

Making it all on our own
Our arrival to San Francisco Bay marked a transition - our dedicated crew, Drew and Steve, were leaving us and we were about to continue the journey on our own.
